the last time i wrote, summer had only begun. now it's a week and a half from over. darn. but it's been a good one. highlights:

* getting overpaid for nannying two wonderful kids

* going on a free trip to colorado with the jr/high school youth group. (getting pink eye from a kid there)

* on that co trip, jamming with jeremy camp 3 times and hearing the wonderful erwin mcmanus.

* going to louisiana for mike's family reunion. and trying to re-learn names, while EVERYONE knew mine. what gave it away, i wonder?

* eating at mike's family reunion. daaang, they know how to cook!

* going to mexico with some great friends.

* busting out my mad spanish skills to help translate in mexico.

* continuing to learn how to cook.

* reading baby magazines (not yet, people. wait for it.)

* AND looking forward to one last vaca.....to schweitz family fun weekend, then to the wisc to see hol and mir!!!!!!

ahhh, the life of a teacher...wonderful vacations.

summer has begun. this could be my last 'lots of down time' summer. yup, planning on starting a family soon. pretty stoked. :)

the wait continues for my wedding pics. lovely.

i want to take a cooking class this summer. i'm sure mike would enjoy better cooking....poor guy. he's so nice and supportive of my attempts.

i wish organic food wasn't so expensive. i'd really go for it.

the end.

We have been at a conference at our church the past 2 days. Reminds me of DCC--although on a much smaller scale, and the mean age is around 45. :) But, nonetheless it's encouraging and moving stuff.

It's all about how Jesus gave us the authority--through the same Holy Spirit he had--to heal people, prophesy, etc...the spiritual gifts. The speakers talk and teach it, then force us to practice. Amazing how God works! We have witnessed with our own eyes healings..even had a hand in some of them. Whoe else could this be but God himself?!

This is all fairly new to me, growing up in a very conservative church who never even mentioned the Holy Spirit. But God is showing up. Our prayer is that it spreads.....these stories of the gospel AND all the verses that tell us we have the same abilities were never meant to be left out. Which is exactly what so many churches have done. Skipped over them. Or, some churches have abused them and turned it into a show.

Anyway...check out Naturally Supernatural by Gary Best if you're interested. OR, even better, read the gospels. Every word. Because it's all in there. Stop skipping over the scary/hard stuff! It's a part of why God put us on this earth...
